Greek goalkeeper Nikos Sarganis died on Sunday at 70.
He had been hospitalized in critical condition and was in a coma before his passing, reports confirmed.
He was the “Phantom”, a nickname he received after his amazing performance on his debut with the Greek national team on October 15, 1980, in a 1-0 away win over Denmark for the 1982 World Cup qualifiers.
Sarganis was renowned for his performance in Greek and European soccer. He played for Ilisiakos, Kastoria, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and Athinaikos, earning 58 caps for the Greek national team.
