Retail traders are hoping that the satisfactory course of the ‘foot traffic’ index in the markets over the holidays will continue during the winter sales beginning next Monday, January 13, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Stavros Kafounis, said on Tuesday.
“It will be a good opportunity for the stores to liquidate their stock,” he noted, pointing out that despite the satisfactory ‘foot traffic’, lower disposable family incomes also lowered the average price of the products sold in the festive season.
In continuation of this relatively good climate, the sales period will be an opportunity for stores to liquidate their stock and a time when consumers are well aware that they will find very large discounts, enabling them to cover many needs that they previously lacked the funds for, he pointed out.
“I hope that 2025 will be a benchmark year for entrepreneurship and that the Athens Chamber of Commerce and I, personally, from all the positions of responsibility assigned to me, will be able to contribute with all our strength to solving everyday problems, but also important issues that create operational problems in the commercial world, so that the new year will be a milestone for the development and transition of Commerce to the new digital era,” he added.
The Athens Chamber of Commerce informed consumers and colleagues, that the regular winter sales start on Monday, January 13 and end on Friday, February 28, while stores can optionally remain open on the first two Sundays of the regular winter sales, namely on January 19 and 26, 2025, with opening hours, 11:00 – 18:00, as proposed by the Athens Chamber of Commerce
