The year 2024 was a landmark year for the Hellenic Public Properties Company (HPPC), a subsidiary of the Greek Superfund, marking a period of dynamic growth, strategic investments and the restart of iconic projects, a statement by the company said on Thursday.
At the same time, HPPC achieved a significant improvement of its financials that substantially supports Greece’s national economy and society, it added.
Specifically, during 2024 saw the restart of 5 iconic projects that had been stuck for decades. They include the following:
– The utilization of the old neoclassical building in Thessaloniki that served as a governor’s seat (Kyverneio)
– The reconstruction of the Achilleion Mansion on Corfu
– The upgrade of the Diros Caves
– The upgrade of the Parnassos SKi Center, and
– The inclusion of the Tae Kwon Do building, used at the Athens Olympic Games, in the plan for the total development of Faliron Bay.
Besides the above, HPPC resolved problematic long-term leases, held debt clearances, and reexamined the company’s financial relationships, all of which brought in revenues of 7 million euros from previous years.

Following the announcement, National Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis noted on a Facebook post that HPPC’s restart has resulted in improvements of its operational revenues, while ongoing issues that came down from the past are being resolved.
“This last year, legislative interventions increased HPPC’s flexibility and speeds. Without forgetting specific local issues, we are placing an emphasis on large unresolved issues. And we will focus on promoting public assets, without bureaucratic methods, with a contemporary spirit, and by utilizing them wherenever necessary in package deals and with special-purpose companies, to speed up relevant processes. It is an uphill, but there is progress already,” the minister said.
