The Hellenic Federation of New Jersey (HFNJ) continues to serve as a powerful beacon of Hellenic identity and unity across the Garden State. As the leading organization uniting over 30 Greek-American nonprofit groups, the Federation is dedicated to preserving Greek culture, language, and education while empowering the next generation of leaders.
At the heart of this mission is Dr. Pano Stavrianidis, President of the HFNJ, who describes the organization as “a beacon of Hellenic light and culture in New Jersey and beyond.” Over the past 16 years, the Federation has grown into one of the most impactful Hellenic institutions in the diaspora, thanks to its consistent leadership and the dedication of successful Greek-Americans deeply committed to their roots.
Preserving Hellenism, Empowering Youth
Every year, the HFNJ Annual Gala brings together Greek-American leaders, families, and supporters to celebrate community achievements and invest in the future. This year’s 12th Annual Awards Gala will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at The Graycliff in Moonachie, New Jersey. The event is especially meaningful, honoring two outstanding figures in the Greek-American community: Peter Kakoyannis and James Polos.

How the Hellenic Federation of New Jersey Gives Back
All funds raised during the gala directly support Greek-American students in their pursuit of higher education. But the Federation’s efforts don’t end there. Throughout the year, the HFNJ hosts a variety of free educational and cultural events, covering topics such as Hellenic history, Orthodox faith, medicine, and public affairs.
“These events are open to the public and are always well attended,” explains Dr. Stavrianidis. “We are proud to organize them and even prouder to offer our support to any local Greek-American community that wishes to collaborate with us.”
A Legacy of Culture and Connection
Some of the Federation’s most treasured moments come through their youth initiatives, organizing events where children and grandchildren gather to dance traditional Greek dances, connect with peers, and rekindle their connection to Hellenism.
“Rewarding our youth with scholarships and giving them a space to celebrate their heritage reminds us why we do this,” he says. “It’s about keeping the Hellenic spirit alive.”
A Call to the Greek-American Community
Dr. Stavrianidis closes with a message to the broader community: “As volunteers and keepers of our Hellenic heritage, we treasure it with care, dignity, and passion. But we cannot do it alone. We invite more Greek-Americans across New Jersey to join us in preserving this rich legacy and ensuring it thrives for generations to come.”
