Dear compatriots and friends from Epirus and Metsovo,
I hope you are all well.
It is with great joy that I would like to share with you an important distinction concerning the film “NOI” — a work that was born and created entirely in our homeland, in Metsovo, with local children as its protagonists. Their authentic presence brought the story to life and carried to the big screen the spirit, strength, and soul of our village. The film is produced by my sister, Kiriaki Virou of AbFab Productions, while my sons, Michalis and Konstantinos Papadopoulos, participated as Executive Producers, contributing substantially to the realization of the project.
Directed by the award-winning Neritan Zinxhiria, a filmmaker with a unique voice and an already distinguished cinematic path, the film continues its successful journey internationally.
International Distinctions
“NOI” has already received notable awards:
- Golden Dionysus – Best Film at the 48th Drama International Short Film Festival, securing its place on the road to the 2026 Oscars | For its rough yet tender point of view, its simple yet bold choices, that mystically lead the viewer to the core of human experience.
- Best Eastern Mediterranean Film Award at the ISFFC Cyprus | A poetic and universal film exploring the bond between humans and animals, silence, and reconciliation.
- Nomination for the European Short Film – Prix Vimeo by the European Film Academy | For its profound sense of place, simplicity of form, and deeply human perspective.
Special Screening in Los Angeles
As part of its initiative to promote Greek submissions for the Oscars, the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival is organizing a special screening of the film at:
Crescent Theater, Beverly Hills
Saturday, November 22, 2025 | 1:00 PM
“NOI” will be screened alongside the feature-length film “Arcadia” by Yorgos Zois and the short “I’m Glad You’re Dead Now” by Tawfeek Barhom — three strong Greek contenders traveling this year along the path to the 2026 Oscars.
“NOI” is not simply a film shot in Epirus.
It is a story that breathes the atmosphere of Metsovo, inspired by its landscapes and its people. It is a work that carries our tradition, our strength, and our emotional heritage to an international audience.
If any of you, or members of the wider Epirote community in Los Angeles, would like to attend the screening, I would be very happy to arrange invitations.
With deep emotion and pride as we see our homeland travel so far,
Warm regards,
Eleni Virou
