The award-winning short film “NOI” by Neritan Zinxhiria continues its strong international trajectory and has been placed on the longlist for the 2026 Academy Awards, representing Greece in the category of Best Live Action Short Film.
Shot entirely in the mountain village of Metsovo, featuring local children as its protagonists, “NOI” carries the atmosphere, emotional depth and cultural identity of Epirus onto the international stage. Their authentic performances give the film a rare sense of truth, intimacy and connection to place.

“NOI” has already received major honors:
- Golden Dionysus – Best Film Award, Drama International Short Film Festival (DISFF)
- Best Eastern Mediterranean Film Award, ISFFC Cyprus
- European Short Film – Prix Vimeo Nomination, European Film Academy
These distinctions secured the film’s path toward the Oscars and its selection in prestigious festivals, including the renowned Raindance Film Festival in the UK.
Special Screening in Los Angeles
On November 22, 2025, the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival hosted a special screening of “NOI” at the Crescent Theater in Beverly Hills, as part of its initiative supporting Greek Oscar contenders.
The screening was followed by an engaged Q&A with the director, drawing enthusiastic responses from the audience.
Synopsis
When the eldest son of a family is killed by his father’s horse, the youngest descends into a feverish and nightmarish psychological journey. Visions, whispers of revenge, and the haunting question remain: “At what temperature does blood boil on snow?”
Set against the frozen landscapes of Epirus, “NOI” unfolds as a dark parable of memory, violence and reconciliation.
