On Monday, December, 8, 2025 the 27th Annual Capital Link Invest in Greece Forum Series titled “Building on Success: Unlocking Greece’s Investment Potential”, concluded with a very well attended official dinner honoring the strong political and financial bonds between Greece and the United States.
During the official Dinner the “2025 Capital Link Hellenic Leadership Award” was presented to Mr. Achilles V. Constantakopoulos, Chairman of the BoD – TEMES S.A., for his outstanding contribution to Greece. Through his business activity across several key sectors, he has been instrumental attracting foreign investments to Greece, enhancing the profile of Greece as a business and investment destination and contributing significantly to the development of the Greek economy. Furthermore, through his leading involvement with several organizations he has been instrumental in raising the profile of Hellenism and contributing to several charitable causes.
Mr. Nicolas Bornozis, opened the ceremony making brief introductory remarks, welcoming and thanking all those who participated in the Forum, that had just concluded.
H.E. Ekaterini Nassika, Ambassador of Greece to the United States, delivered Welcome Remarks followed by Mr. Dean Dakolias, Co-Chairman and Managing Partner – Fortress Investment Group, who introduced Mr. Achilles V. Constantakopoulos.
H.E. Ekaterini Nassika in her speech stated:
«Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a true honour to stand before such a distinguished audience. Nikos and Olga Bornozis in particular, who have once again done an exceptional job showcasing Greece’s investment momentum and linking our country with a true global financial centre such as New York City.
I would also like to thank the speakers who guided us through Greece’s remarkable journey of resilience and reform – a journey that has allowed our economy to emerge stronger, more competitive, and more attractive.
You know the economic facts now. Let me speak about Greece’s strategic role. Our partnership with the United States has always been strong. What matters now is its growing importance.
Greece’s position – seen as Europe’s distant southern edge – has become one of our greatest strategic advantages.
Which port is the first European port a major containership reaches after passing through the Suez Canal? The Port of Piraeus.
What is the closest, most accessible destination for travellers from the Eastern Mediterranean seeking a world-class holiday experience?
The islands of Rhodes and Crete.
What is the nearest LNG gateway capable of transporting natural gas to Central Europe?
The Revythousa terminal and the Alexandroupolis FSRU.
Where does the United States find a safe, reliable passageway to transport troops and equipment all the way to Ukraine?
Alexandroupolis.
What is the safest deep-water harbour in the Mediterranean for hosting aircraft carriers? Souda Bay in Crete.
But let me emphasize one point clearly: location alone is not enough. We succeeded because we built the right conditions.
We emerged from a decade-long economic crisis resilient. We implemented hundreds of reforms. Today, we speak confidently – and credibly – about investing in Greece.
We were never ambiguous in our foreign policy- without hesitation, we condemned Russia’s war on Ukraine. When Europe called for energy diversification 10 or 15 years ago – at a time when many were still building new pipelines to Russia – Greece made a different strategic choice. We built the infrastructure early.
Over the past 15 years, Greece has actively driven the development of LNG terminals and the Vertical Corridor, taking a hands-on role at every stage.
Thanks to this sustained effort, these projects are now commercially operational Greek shipowners did their part. They built their fleets in time, and today they lead the global market.
Our shipyards, with the support of American investment, are experiencing a revival with strong prospects.
We embraced new diplomatic and economic tools:
the US – Greece Strategic Dialogue, the 3+1 framework, and IMEC – the new trade and energy corridor linking India to the Middle East, Greece, and Europe.
Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation – the major energy conference hosted in Athens, in collaboration with the United States, just last month, has become a platform for business deals and concrete opportunities.
The strategic partnership between Greece and the United States is shaping long-term,mutually beneficial growth, prosperity, and security for Greece and for our wider region.
These are the qualities that make Greece a reliable business partner and a dependable political ally. They are also the reasons we can look to the future with confidence.
———.
On a different and final note, let me say that the Konstantakopoulos family has a longstanding tradition of philanthropy and commitment to the common good—a tradition they have passed on to their son, Achilleas, tonight’s honoree. And, I know this from personal experience.
I started my career in Washington, DC and it’s only natural that upon arrival as Ambassador, one of the projects that I took to heart was the restoration and renovation of the historic Greek Embassy building. Little did I know that Achilleas Constantakopoulos was already involved, having funded an extensive feasibility study. His commitment inspired me further and set in motion a chain of events that brought this vision to life. I am proud to share that the renovation is now underway.
Congratulations Mr. Constantakopoulos.
Thank you.»
Mr. Achilles V. Constantakopoulos, Chairman of the BoD – TEMES S.A., accepting the “2025 HELLENIC CAPITAL LINK LEADERSHIP AWARD”, stated: «Greece today stands among the world’s leading tourism destinations, and our Group is proud to contribute to this momentum. Costa Navarino proved that a sustainable, high-quality development can create long-term value, while protecting and promoting a region’s character. With the same philosophy, our investments in Attica, from The Ilisian to our beachfront developments at The Ellinikon, aim to enrich Athens with destinations that enhance the urban fabric, celebrate its character, and create meaningful value for residents and visitors alike. What began in Messinia guides our work today: thoughtful development that serves communities, visitors, and the country’s broader prospects».
