“Greece is safe because it is a country that takes measures to protect its borders and its police officers work day and night to protect citizens,” the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chryssohoidis, said in statements from the city of Ioannina on Wednesday.
Among the priorities of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, Chrysochoidis pointed out, is the effective treatment of social problems, such as domestic violence and criminal phenomena.
We need to reduce traffic accidents and fatal traffic accidents and make our cities humane for us, for our children, for the elderly, for the people who move around in the urban centers where the majority of citizens live.
Chryssohoidis then addressed the female victims of abusive behaviour, saying: “I urge and encourage all women who receive such abusive behaviour to report them to the domestic violence offices and in general to the police offices. Many specialised police officers will be called upon to manage the situation, protect the victims, accommodate them in the structures and arrest the abusers.”
Chryssohoidis also met with the regional governor of Epirus Alexandros Kahrimanis and the mayor of Ioannina Thomas Begas.
