Greece’s Foreign Affairs Ministry strongly condemned the harassment of Greek Eurodeputy Fredi Beleri during a visit to Tirana on Tuesday.
In a statement, the ministry said, “We condemn the verbal abuse against Greek Eurodeputy Fredi Beleri during the visit of the European Parliament’s delegation to Tirana to monitor Albania’s accession process.”
It added, “Albanian authorities ought to take necessary measures to guarantee the safety of Eurodeputies and the freedom to carry out their work without hindrances. Eurodeputies represent the interests of European Union citizens and should enjoy due respect.”
