A 60-year-old man who was at standoff with police at the village of Gonni in the Tempi area since Sunday morning killed himself later in the day.
According to his lawyer Stelios Sourlas, the man had called the police to say he killed two people over financial issues, and then barricaded himself in his store, threatening to blow himself up with a hand grenade.
Police had called in a trained negotiator to convince him to give himself up.
According to information, he shot himself.
A bomb squad is searching his store for explosives.
