“Today, in every corner of our country, the Greek people are standing by the families who are fighting for a vindication of the memory of their loved ones, who were so unjustly lost,” main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis said in a statement on Friday, marking the second anniversary since the tragic train accident in Tempi.
Androulakis, who was participating in the rally held at Eleftherias Square in Heraklion, on the island of Crete, pointed out that the Greek people are “united and without party banners, demanding justice and truth”.
“[They are] demanding that those responsible be brought to justice, but also the self-evident: a state that will respect the citizens and be at their service, and not a state that is a booty for those in authority. A state where the destiny of this country will not be decided by the right of might but by the force of law,” stated Androulakis, adding: “Those, on the other hand, who from the first hours after the accident invested in the darkness of cover-up and misinformation, are forgetting something. Against the darkness they had imposed, the light of truth and justice always emerges victorious.”
