New York, NY – December 4, 2024 – The Daughters of Penelope Manhattan EVRYKLEA chapter made a generous donation to the Robin Hood Foundation, contributing $2,000 to support the foundation’s vital work in combating poverty in New York City. Chapter President Elsa Jonsson, Vice President Maria Ntini, and members Maria Papageorgiou and Chrysoula Giakos visited Robin Hood’s offices to present the donation in person. The group was warmly welcomed by Margaret Schilling, Managing Director of Individual Giving at Robin Hood, who shared insights into the foundation’s impactful work.
Founded in 1988 by Paul Tudor Jones II, the Robin Hood Foundation is one of New York’s most prominent and effective organizations dedicated to fighting poverty. Through data-driven philanthropy, Robin Hood invests in innovative solutions that address the root causes of poverty in the areas of education, employment, housing, healthcare, and criminal justice. By applying rigorous metrics and collaborating with diverse partners, including nonprofits, government agencies, and corporations, Robin Hood ensures that its resources are used to create lasting, systemic change.
Since its inception, Robin Hood has distributed over $2 billion to initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in New York City, and continues to advocate for policies that address poverty at a structural level. The foundation’s approach combines direct financial support to individuals with funding for large-scale initiatives, making a profound and long-term impact on vulnerable communities. Robin Hood spends 100% of its donations to its charitable endeavors.
The Daughters of Penelope Manhattan EVRYKLEA chapter is proud to contribute to Robin Hood’s mission and excited to support its ongoing efforts in creating positive change.
