The Geros Tou Morea chapter of the Pan Arcadian Federation of America hosted an Easter Block Party on the afternoon of Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Arcadian House, located at 27-02 39th Avenue in Long Island City, NY. An Arcadian Greek band, featuring singer Eirini Tsiaris, entertained guests with traditional Greek songs and dances. Young families and their children attended, bringing joyful energy to the celebration.
Chapter President Ioannis Tabakis and the Executive Board organized a well-planned event that was enjoyed by all.The women of the society baked delicious Greek pastries. Tina Vournas-Machani prepared rice crispy treats that were especially popular with the children. Anastasia and Theodore Tsikrikis, along with their 13-year-old son Alexandros, reunited with friends at the celebration. Dimitrios Filios of Cosmos FM did an excellent job promoting the event through public relations.
The Geros Tou Morea chapter continues to grow, with a strong and vibrant presence of young members. Arcadia, located in the heart of the Peloponnese, remains a symbol of enduring patriotism. Generations continue to share stories of ancestors who fought with heroism in every Greek war. Tradition holds that during the four hundred years of Ottoman rule, it was the clergy in the mountains and on the islands who preserved Greek identity and spirit. Their efforts kept the light of revolution alive, educating and inspiring the modern Greek consciousness. The unity of the priestly robe and the soldier’s foustanella was a powerful symbol that contributed to victory. A free Greece, many believe, would not have been possible without the clergy’s sacrifices.
This Easter Block Party was not just a festive gathering—it was a celebration of heritage, unity, and remembrance of ancestral roots.
